Current estimates are that approximately 47% of patients have more than 0.75D of astigmatism, however only 12% of toric fittings are in daily disposables indicating that eye care professionals are either reluctant or unable to recommend them. Looking at the possible barriers that prevent more frequent prescribing of this modality for astigmats, the lecture will individually examine areas including lack of patient awareness, chair time, cost, impact of design on visual stability, impact of material on patient comfort satisfaction and power range availability.
This presentation will look at a range of lenses from different manufacturers to help the eye care professional to understand the key areas of differentiation and how these might influence their choice when deciding on a suitable lens for their astigmatic patients.
