We will review the currently available silicone hydrogel multifocal contact lenses and compare the material and design technologies and discuss the fitting process for each lens type via a step by step guide to both the initial fitting and over-refraction. In addition guidance will be given on how to best communicate the clinical aspects of presbyopia, its correction with multifocal contact lenses and specific tips for success will be given.

Given that ‘poor vision’ is the 2nd highest cause of contact lens drop-out (1st is lens comfort), it is important the eye care practitioners offer patients the best possible vision as possible in order to maximise their longevity in lens wear. Toric contact lenses require a greater level of skill by practitioners in order that they are used and adjusted effectively. This workshop provides a hands-on opportunity for practitioners to perfect their toric lens fitting skills and ensure that they can provide an appropriate level of care, vision and freedom from spectacles to their astigmatic patients.
