In the fusional period of infancy Orthoptists, Ophthalmologists, Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians have limited resources and a small window of opportunity to act – typically two to four years from detection to try and correct reduced vision and squints.
In the case of amblyogenics patching, penalisation, spectacles or contact lenses are the only options currently available, spectacles being the primary method of treatment, therefore ccurate paediatric dispensing is vital.
Using a recent study of adults dispensing we will show the benefit to visual performance with accurate dispensing.
We will show some simple methods to help in our goal of effective dispensing.
