This presentation allows delegates to learn interactively about slit-lamp techniques in a way that will help them clearly see how techniques are performed. Using a live high definition video feed delegates ara able to see the techniques being conducted live and can indeed ask tutors to repeat and explain procedures. This talk is a prelude to a practical session when delegates will, with tutors, go through the techniques themselves. |

a) Delegates will learn how the different illumination systems available with a slit lamp should be used.
b) Delegates will understand when to use specific techniques in order to view certain anterior eye and anterior vitreous abnormalities
c) Delegates will understand when to use dyes and accessories to improve the quality of their techniques and improve patient care |

Kamlesh Chauhan BSc (Hons), PhD, MCOptom has over 20 years experience in teaching. Kamlesh has taught at under-graduate, MSc, PhD and post-graduate clinical training. He is a senior College examiner, Chair of the College's Assessment Board, Editor for the College OSCEs and part of the review group for the Scheme for Registration.
Outside of the College duties he taught at Manchester university in topics including geometrical optics, statistics and research methods, contact lenses, binocular vision, instrumentation techniques, ocular disease and management and refraction.
Kamlesh has also written some peer-reviewed clinical articles including the use of slit-lamps. He is currently the Head of The Vision Care Institute, UK for Johnson & Johnson Medical Ltd. |

a) High quality slit lamps with built in filters such as Wratten 12 and variable neutral density filters
b) High definition cameras on all slit lamps with two video monitors in each of 6 consulting rooms
c) Inter-room connectivity allowing slit lamp view to be viewed within auditorium via a high definition projection system
d) Audio connectivity between consulting room and auditorium allowing two-way communication between delegates and consulting room (each delegate has access to microphone).
e) High quality graphics and video allowing two or three images to be shown simultaneously so that slides, microscopic view and slit-lamp manipulation can be viewed at the same time.
f) There is also an interactive voting system that allows opinion gathering in an anonymous non-threatening way that allows peer discussion within the auditorium. |
