Short CET Abstract : This lecture presentation will briefly review the signs and symptoms associated with keratoconus as well as current thinking on the risk factors and aetiology. Strategies for detecting, classifying and managing the condition will be offered and the results of recent research studies will be considered.

Author Short CV(s) : Dr Clare O’Donnell BSc(Hons) PhD MCOptom FAAO Clare O’Donnell graduated with a degree in Optometry from Glasgow and spent several years in optometric practice before taking up a clinical tutorship in Auckland, New Zealand. Clare returned to the UK and completed a PhD on the effects of diabetes on the cornea and contact lens wear. Previous appointments include Clinic Manager at Manchester and she is currently Lecturer in Optometry there. Outside University she is a member of the International Society of Contact Lens Research, the British Universities Committee of Contact Lens Educators. She is a previous recipient of awards including the Dallos Award and the Irving Fatt Memorial Awards of the BCLA.
